The Lact-Aid system was designed to help your baby develop the necessary skills to nurse on his or her own, while still allowing the little one to get the nutrition he or she needs. The system regulates how much formula or breast milk your baby feeds; it keeps the formula or breast milk flowing at a rate that allows your baby to feed while encouraging proper feeding technique from your baby. At the same time, this also ensures the breast milk does not flow too fast, causing your baby to aspirate or choke on the contents.
The nursing bags are soft and conform to any position, so you and your baby are comfortable. No hard plastic bottles to work around, especially if you have a squirmy baby. The nursing bags allow you to use a fresh, clean bag for each feeding. The clamp rings on the nursing trainers each have notches to crimp off the feeding tube to prevent leaks while you are your baby are settling in or finishing up. Just push the feeding tube into the notch to secure.
All other parts of the Lact-Aid system can be cleaned and reused. Each Starter Kit comes with the tools and complete instructions on how to clean the Nursing Trainer parts and components.
If you are using powdered formula, we recommend straining the formula before pouring into the nursing bags. We offer large, stainless steel strainers for use at home as well as small filters that can be placed in our funnels for when you and your baby are traveling. See our accessories page for both.
